TD’s Night It Up! Concrete Classic Results

The Toronto Phoenix Women’s A team spent the past weekend competing at TD’s Night It Up Concrete Classic.  They played a wonderful tournament and were undefeated going into the finals.  Unfortunately, they fell short at the end, taking Outtahand to a full 3-set match (19-25, 25-20, 12-15).  It was a very hot weekend, full of festivities at the Night It Up night market and we are very proud of all the girls that competed in the tournament!

Toronto Phoenix Canada Day Tournament MVP

IMG_6986Congratulations to Nina on being the Toronto Phoenix Canada Day Tournament women’s MVP! It was a tough decision for our coaches as all of them played a great tournament but with that being said, this tournament MVP award for Nina is definitely well-deserved!

Congratulations Anson!

5249_119234843054_6496151_nThe “9-Man” Documentary Team is currently accepting votes for their Legends of 9-Man survey and inductees will be featured on their very own throwback trading card!

We are very proud of Anson Wong for being nominated in the MODERN category and representing Toronto Phoenix all throughout the North American 9-man circuit.  Anson has been with the club for over 15 years and is truly dedicated to the club.  Not only did he play for Toronto Phoenix but he also coached the Women’s A team and was part of the Toronto Phoenix executive committee for many years past.  (For those of us that know Anson, he’s also usually responsible for the Phoenix socials and any rookie initiations that he decides to carry out.)  This year, he decided to take on a smaller role within the club in order spend more time with his family, Aya and Aleena, but is still strongly committed to helping coach the Men’s A team for the summer.  He has definitely contributed a lot to Toronto Phoenix, on and off the court.

If everyone can hop onto the survey and support Anson in this Legends of 9-man survey and give him a vote, that would be amazing!  (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LCBCVBQ).  Voting closes in a couple days on the morning of Monday, July 8th.

Once again, congratulations to Anson for being nominated alongside so many other great volleyball players of the 9-man community and we wish him the best of luck in this contest!
